Friday “Beauty” Favorites

Friday is finally here! Naturally, this day of the week makes us feel extra happy. It reminds us that it’s time to unwind and truly enjoy the things that we love.

Today, I’m starting what I’d like to call the Friday “Beauty” Favorites series where I share images and things that I’ve come across on other blogs, Pinterest (I’m obsessed) and throughout my day-to-day routine that inspire me.

In the spirit of my blog update yesterday, this is also a great preview of what you can expect on future posts. Beautiful decor, fashion, products and so much more.

This past January, I celebrated a milestone birthday so I wanted to wear something that was a bit unique, yet still me. Now I’m not sure how many of you are Sex and The City fans, but I find myself, all too often, imagining that I’m typing away (sans a cigarette and column) things that I love to share. It’s undeniable that I love Carrie Bradshaw! So much so, that I decided to pull together a Carrie Bradshaw inspired ensemble for my birthday.

I changed it up a bit with a blush tulle skirt instead of the green color she donned in an episode where she was in Paris. I then decided to pair this with a polka dot top (I love polka dots), along with a statement necklace. And we can’t forget the shoes! Sorry, these are not Manolo Blahniks, but I hope Carrie wasn’t disappointed in my selection.

The main piece of my outfit was definitely the tulle skirt. I felt amazing in that skirt – feminine, sexy and confident. My pearl statement necklace was a classic touch.

What do you guys think of tulle skirts?

Shine bright like a diamond…

Believe it or not, the color of your mani can do wonders to enhance your already stunning engagement ring and/or wedding band.

Here are some fun shades to make something that symbolizes your love stand out even more.

Red
Not only is this the perfect shade for fall, but a manicure covered in red emits a romantic feeling.

Pink
I don’t have a picture of my ring with this shade, but I love polishing my nails with this color in the spring; though I’m not afraid to brighten up my look during the cold, winter months with this beautiful color either. I also love soft purple (not pictured here).IMG_7474.JPG

White
Beautiful shade for brides, but I love going for a neutral tone from time to time because it goes with anything. I think it also shows off a subtle and classic side.

National Lipstick Day

Hey guys! Today is National Lipstick Day so I thought this would be a great time to share my favorite shade this summer.

I’m not a daily lipstick wearer, but I can’t get enough of Whimsy by Tarte Cosmetics. It’s a vibrant and beautiful shade of pink. In fact, I was wearing this lipstick in my Summer Hair post.

Whimsy is from Tarte’s Glamazon Pure Performance 12-hour Lipstick line so sip away on your favorite drinks this season without having to worry about constantly reapplying your color of choice.

What’s your favorite shade this summer?

Basic Wash-and-Go Hair Essentials…

Untitled-1Wide Tooth Comb (similar) | Clip: Diane Duck Bill Clips | Hair Masque: SheaMoisture | Microfiber Towel: Aquis | Shampoo & Conditioner: Acure

Whether you have straight hair, curly hair, frizzy hair, manageable hair, or whatever texture you were blessed with, you’ll be happy to hear that these products, and possibly my techniques, can be used on any hair type.

I generally use my fingers to de-tangle, but when I need a little extra help, a wide tooth comb is the way to go.  A duck bill clip is used to hold my hair in place after I apply the hair masque (post-shampoo), which I leave on for about 5-10 minutes in the shower. My final rinse (cool to cold water I might add) is used to wash out the conditioner. Lastly, I wrap my hair in a microfiber towel for less than 5 minutes.

What are your basic hair essentials?
